1. About these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Silmaril Software Private Limited, a company incorporated in India and based in Hyderabad, Telangana (“Silmaril”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of the Weave Vault applications for iOS, iPadOS, and Android (“Weave Vault”, the “App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

2. The service

Weave Vault is an encrypted vault for private photos, videos, and files. Items you import are encrypted on your device using keys derived from a pattern you draw. The App is designed to protect against casual, opportunistic access to your device — for example, someone picking up your unlocked phone and browsing your photo library. It is not designed to defeat targeted forensic analysis by sophisticated adversaries, and you should not rely on it for that purpose.

Weave Vault has no user accounts. By default it transmits nothing. Two optional features — encrypted backup and secure sharing — send encrypted data when you enable them; see our Privacy Policy for exactly what each one sends and what is retained.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher. If you are using the App on behalf of a minor in your care, you accept these Terms on their behalf.

4. Your responsibilities

Weave Vault relies on you to keep two things safe:

• Your pattern. The pattern you draw is the input from which the key that unlocks a vault is derived. We never store it.
• Your recovery phrase. When you create a vault, the App shows a 12-word recovery phrase one time. It is the only other way into that vault. If you lose both your pattern and your recovery phrase, the vault and its contents cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

You are responsible for keeping your device, your pattern, and your recovery phrase secure, and for the lawful use of any content you import. We strongly recommend enabling encrypted backup, or otherwise keeping a second copy, of anything you cannot afford to lose.

5. Optional features you should understand before using

Encrypted backup

Backup stores encrypted copies of your vault data in a cloud account you control (your iCloud, or your Google Drive). Availability, storage limits, and retention are governed by your agreement with that provider, not with us. We cannot read, restore, or recover that data on your behalf, and we are not liable for a provider’s outage, deletion, or account action.

Secure sharing

Sharing creates a point-in-time encrypted copy of a vault which a person you give the phrase to can open until it expires. It is intended for sharing with a specific person you trust, not for public or untargeted distribution. You are solely responsible for who you give a phrase to and for what you share. Once a recipient has opened a share, they may be able to retain what they saw; expiry and revocation prevent further opening, but they cannot retrieve what has already been viewed or copied.

Duress mode

Duress mode is a destructive feature. When armed and triggered, it permanently removes this device’s keys to your other vaults, and the data protected by those keys becomes unrecoverable on that device — including by us, and including with a recovery phrase. If encrypted backup is enabled, the existing backup is retained rather than deleted and remains your route back. Arm it only if you understand and accept this. We are not liable for data made unrecoverable by your use of this feature.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

The free tier of Weave Vault includes up to three vaults with a limited number of files in each. Weave Vault Pro removes those limits and unlocks additional features, and is offered as:

• Monthly subscription — auto-renewable.
• Annual subscription — auto-renewable, including a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
• Lifetime — a one-time, non-consumable purchase granting Pro access on the store account used at purchase.

Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store on iOS and iPadOS, and by Google through Google Play on Android. Prices are shown in the App at purchase time. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel at any time under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play Store → Subscriptions on Android.

Refunds are handled directly by the store you purchased from, under its own policies. We do not process refunds. On iOS, visit reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, use your Google Play order history.

If a Pro subscription lapses, the App reverts to free-tier limits. Existing vaults and their contents remain on your device and remain accessible, and an existing encrypted backup is retained and can still be restored from. You may be unable to add files or vaults beyond the free limits until you renew.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use Weave Vault to store, distribute, or facilitate access to content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction, including content that exploits or endangers minors. This applies in full to the sharing feature: you may not use it to distribute unlawful content to others.

Because content is encrypted on your device and we hold no keys, we have no technical ability to monitor, review, or moderate what you store or share. That absence of capability is not permission — storing or sharing such content using the App is a breach of these Terms and, in most jurisdictions, of law. Where we are legally required to act and are technically able to do so, we will disable a specific share.

8. Intellectual property

The Weave Vault applications, including their source code, design, brand assets, and documentation, are the property of Silmaril Software Private Limited and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and to the terms of the store you obtained it from.

Content you import remains yours. We do not acquire ownership of or rights to your content, we do not receive copies of it, and we cannot grant licences over it.

9. Limitations and disclaimers

Weave Vault is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that encrypted content will remain decryptable in all circumstances, or that the App will protect against every possible threat. The App is intended to provide protection against casual, opportunistic access only. It is not a substitute for full-disk encryption, secure deletion of original media, or professional security tooling for high-threat use cases.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total aggregate liability of Silmaril Software Private Limited arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Weave Vault, for any cause whatsoever, is limited to the greater of:

• the total amount you paid us for Weave Vault Pro in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or
• one hundred United States dollars (USD 100).

In no event will we be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of data, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; there, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Termination

You may stop using Weave Vault at any time by deleting the App. Deleting the App removes the vault data it stored on that device. If encrypted backup was enabled, the copy in your cloud account is unaffected by uninstalling and must be removed separately — turn backup off first, or delete it through your provider’s storage management. You may also delete a single vault from within the App; that is irreversible from inside the App.

We may suspend or discontinue features, update the App, or withdraw it from sale at our discretion. Where reasonably practicable we will give notice in store release notes.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be surfaced in store release notes where appropriate. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of Hyderabad, Telangana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Weave Vault, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
